Full Product Description

This recall involves the SLG series "Perfect Flame" brand outdoor propane or natural gas grills. The grills are stainless steel and painted black metal. The recalled grills can be identified by the following model numbers, which can be found on a sticker in the compartment under the cooking chamber.

Perfect Flame gas grills with any other model number are not included in this recall.

Hazard Identified

The burners can deteriorate, causing irregular flames. The lids can also catch fire, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

In cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (US CPSC) and Health Canada, L G Sourcing, Inc. is voluntarily recalling these grills.

The firm has received about 40 reports of fires from the burners deteriorating and about 22 reports of the lids catching fire. The firm is aware of at least 21 minor injuries and 1 report of an eye injury requiring surgery.

Health Canada has not received any reports of injuries or incidents related to the use of these grills.

Corrective Action

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled grills, as well as any other SLG-series model grills if the burners show signs of deterioration. Consumers should contact L G Sourcing, Inc. to receive free replacement burners, and depending on the model of the grill owned, a free replacement lid.

Number Sold

Approximately 1500 recalled grills were sold across Canada, and 663 000 recalled grills were sold in the United States. The grills were sold exclusively at Lowe's stores.

Time Period Sold

The recalled products were sold in Canada from December 2007 to May 2009, and in the United States from December 2007 to May 2009.
