Uni-Bright BBQ Lighter
This recall involves Uni-Bright BBQ Lighters with a straight or a flexible shaft. The lot number can be found on a sticker that is attached to the handle of the product.
The Uni-Bright BBQ Lighter with the straight shaft can be identified by UPC 628750818029 and lot #18/03/08.
The Uni-Bright BBQ Lighter with the flexible shaft can be identified by UPC 628750818036 and either lot #18/03/08 or 6/06/06.
Testing by Health Canada has revealed that the lighters have unsafe burning characteristics and can leak fuel, posing a burn hazard for users. The refuelling instructions that come with the lighters are also insufficient for safe use.
In addition, the child-resistant mechanism may not work properly on the Uni-Bright Lighters with the straight shaft.
Health Canada has not received any reports of incidents or injuries related to the use of these products.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled lighters and safely dispose of it.
Consumers may contact their municipality for instructions on how to dispose of the recalled product.
Approximately 92,000 of the straight shaft BBQ lighter and 9,000 of the flexible shaft BBQ lighters were distributed in Canada.
The recalled products were sold from April 2008 to June 2009.
